Closing the books on Season 7

I can't believe I just coached my 7th season. Crazy. Anyway, a season that was filled with uncertainty ended very positively. My JV team finished 15-2, 8-1 in the CHL which included a CHL Championship. The Varsity ended up 15-8 and lost to State Runner-Up Madison in the District Finals. We beat CHCA to claim another Sectional Championship. It's always sad to see the season end and the seniors move on, but it also brings a sigh of relief., plus...more time with my hot wife! -T

Kitchen Day 17 - Ceiling and A-Track-tive Lighting

Dad and I painted the ceiling. He rolled, I cut. I never want to "cut" because it's hard and it needs a steady hand. Dad informed me however that we were going to paint the walls in the dining room again so I just "cut" with no worries about getting it on the walls. It made it a lot better for me. Then, Dad got inspired to put up the track light. We got it up, screwed in the toggle bolts, held our breath, AND...nothing! Luckily, the lights were just clicked in the wrong side. Whew! We banged up the ceiling and it now needs a little touch up work, but no worries, that's an easy fix! -T

It was really hard to paint some spots of the ceiling...Exhibit A...

Can't tell where the opening used to be, huh?

Nope.

Soft White Ceiling Paint...we had this in our basement when we moved in. Something we didn't pay for! It actually was gray when we opened it. Luckily, it turned white when we stirred it.

Like I said...a little banged up, but so cool!
But do they work?

Aaaahh yeahhh! (Lindsey likes it when I sound like a teenage girl in my reactions)

Look who made the picture! She couldn't look it was so bright. Not really...sometimes Lindsey's eating habits take priority over exciting times like this.

Kitchen Day 16 - Sand and Prime

Dad came over to do a final sand and then put primer on the mud to be able to paint the ceiling.

Oh...

No pictures were taken in the making of this day. -T

It's my feeder so I'll scream if I want to

We put up the ol' bird feeder outside. Less than 24 hours later, I thought someone was attacking Lindsey as a penetrating scream came from the downstairs. Was she hurt? Nope, a bird landed on the bird feeder. You would have thought Carolina won it all or something! -T

How long do you think it will take before a squirrel's leap knocks this over?
I mean...look how happy she is!
Now, imagine a bird sitting there and a scream coming out.

Kitchen Day 15 - Mud, The Final Round

Dale came to once again sand and mud. He sanded, mudded, and then came the following afternoon to sand it down and mud a few more spots one last time. It's tricky, because the walls in the dining room and the kitchen, which used to have a wall separating them, aren't totally flush with each other, even though they are supposed to be(see previous posts regarding "poor workmanship"). Dale seems disappointed. I think it actually looks really good considering the circumstances and any imperfections just give it character. -T

With one more small sanding and a paint job...this will look splendid!

To use the words of one of Lindsey's friends...this just looks "AMAZING!"

So what if the ceiling goes higher in one spot...like I said...it adds character.

It's getting hard to tell this was ever separated.

This too...if the mud wasn't darker than the paint, you'd never be able to tell the soffit was extended.

Where's the seam?

Seriously, where's the seam on the top of that wall?
Just add paint!

Now onto the rest of it...

Second Coming, Second Spot

We originally had the picture of the Second Coming on our dining room wall because we got the picture from Grandma Fish and that is the exact spot she put it. However, the wall no longer exists because of the kitchen renovation, SO, the picture now resides above the piano, and it looks REALLY good there! -T

You can see my wonderful birthday cards to the left, and on the right... the Wish World Kids Lynnae sent me! I can't bear to put them back in the box yet, so they're on display for a little while. The fireplace turns into a BBQ grill, the dresser = a beauty parlor, the desk = entertainment center, and the big radio = stage (instruments included). Why can't these girl transformers make a comeback, too??! -L

March! It's MARCH!

Even though my beloved Tar Heels are NIT bound, and it dulls it a little, nothing beats this time of year! The weather is getting warmer, the days are longer, and brackets are in the clouds! It's the greatest time of the year! -T

Who am I rooting for? Anyone but UK and Duke!

I'll give my guys some love too...

GO HEELS! (Please do SOMETHING with this waste of a season)

Kitchen Day 14 - Unlucky Mud Round 3

Dale was not pleased after he sanded and put another coat of mud on. Some tape had bubbled so he will be back for a Mud Round 4. I do believe one or two spots, however, will be covered up by the track lights. -T

Kitchen Day 13 - Mud Round 2

Not a whole lot changed...Dale just took less than an hour and put on another coat of mud. Muuuud! -T

Oh what fun...Lindsey is Thirty (fill in the rhyme)!

My Sweetheart had a birthday. I got her a pole...nice of me, eh? Not just any pole though, a pole to hold a bird feeder! The bird feeder, however, I thought we'd go and pick out together. We also made dinner together (I didn't just make it or take her out because this is how she wanted it) - enchiladas! We then made waffle cones since we have a waffle cone maker that we've never used. Make sure you pinch the bottom though...or else things will get messy! -T

This is usually the reaction I look for!
She's just so cute all the time...even in a hideous kitchen!
Waffle cone maker!
It is hot! This is us shaping the cone...workin' as a team!

She wanted to take a picture together, but then she goes and does something like this.
Better. The finished product!

Kitchen Day 12 - Muuuud (and tape)

Dale came in to do the mudding. Dad shaved out spots that hadn't been done yet to prep for the tape. I watched. -T
