31 Weeks Down - 2 Months 'til D-Day

August 15th - exactly two months until the due date. Here is Mom - after averaging 2 lbs of weight gain per month! -T

No comments necessary - just enjoy the cuteness.

WHY did you put all 3 pictures on?! This is going too far. -L

Soft Stool

So, even though "matching" was an issue, we talked ourselves into keeping the bar stools that Lindsey bought a few weeks back. They have a cushion on the top which you can hardly find and they were the cheapest ones out there so the pros outweighed the cons. We just decided to keep them and love them despite the color. -T

I love when assembly is easy...although I do not like runny wood glue
Can't even tell she's pregnant, huh?
(Except that she's using the stool to help her get up off the floor! -L)

One down!

She looks so proper

Now we know they are definitely sturdy

Perfect fit

When did we get a white stool?

Fini!

100 Degrees = Inside Project

We continue to work through our list of things we want to get done before Baby Schlenk arrives. Two of the projects still on the list include finishing the outside fence - this time with chain link - as well as put up more shelves in the food storage "section" of the basement. We chose the project that is done in the 72 degree temperature. Dad, Scott, and I headed to the basement to do the next basement project. We had room along the steps to add more shelves for our food storage and just storage, so we took advantage. -T

This my friends is what we call "wasted spaces."

We are pretty sure we have a ghost in our basement...but outside of that, you can tell which are the new 2x4's.
Just like Stacy's mom...here is the first piece of masonite going on
(I told Todd to put a link for the song Stacy's Mom Has Got it Goin' On.
But... inappropriate. The title is all you need to know. -L)

Too cluttered for our taste...but this is not the normal spot for the drill

If your first thought is, "It is different colors," I already know! We decided to go for a more contemporary look...actually, the other side was scratched and I thought it looked cool.

House = Not Level, All the new stuff including these shelves = Level
We even put a can on it front to back and side to side and it didn't roll at all

Sometimes we did have to motivate Dad though as he had a tendency to just stand and watch

THIS is more like it! Also, we put this shelf so Costco cereal would fit

Cluttered for just a little bit longer

I guess the ghost didn't try to get in this picture

Oh, and we removed the bottom of the stairs because I refuse to stub my toe ONE MORE TIME!

I can't figure out why they didn't cut it initially.

Isn't organization the best thing ever!?

Two bins stacked on top of each other even fit underneath
The OTHER side - room for "school supplies" among other things

With lots of room to spare!

I'm About to Toss it Out on the Lawn and Sit in it There

We decided to get a new chair for the living room for multiple reasons: 1) It provided an extra seat in that room, 2) It's always good to have a rocking chair for when you have kiddos and 3) Every man needs a recliner. Sounds great, huh? Well it was except for making room for it. I am pretty sure we through out 47 different scenarios of what to do. We finally came up with one that was surely the only way it could possibly be. When the chair arrived...things took a turn for the worst. Dad: "It looks like you just plopped a chair right in the middle of the room." This is AFTER I had moved all the furniture around including a love seat, a couch, and a piano among other things. So, then someone had the bright idea to move the piano to the family room. It looked terrible in there. We finally came up with something that worked - we think. THIS is surely the only way it can possibly be. -T

The Before

This is how it originally was. It is very sentimental to Lindsey as it is still in the position of when we were married.
And from the other side of the room

Take a look at the furniture yourself - what can you come up with?

The After

If you take a good hard look at what was done. Does anything stick out to you?

If you said, "There is only one major piece of furniture that changed spots," you would be correct!
After tons of measuring, and moving around, and measuring, and moving around, all we did was move the small, very light cabinet by the TV, and then the love seat in its place. THAT'S IT! I'll just say I got a couple days of extra exercise.

Table For Two Please!

I saw a picture a few months ago that a friend posted on Facebook of a meal she attempted and made successfully. It was Cajun Chicken Fettucini Alfredo...one of my favorite meals(I used to get the Blackened Cajun Chicken Sandwich at Friday's until they stopped making it, the Cajun Pasta at Chili's (amazing), and many times some sort of Alfredo dish at other restaurants that have it). I asked her for the recipe when I saw it and it was very detailed and complicated because she got the recipe from Guy Fieri on the Food Network Channel. It was way out of my league. So, I brought in reinforcements to make it - Lindsey, my meal supervisor/instructor, and my good ol' mama to help define some terms. In the end...it turned out great! At the end, we even decided to make it a candlelit dinner. -T

Ingredients do not include bleach
So...preheat oven blah blah blah...okay, here we go..."Dredge the chicken breasts in the blackening spice..." Wait...dredge? This is us dredging!

"Blacken both sides of the chicken..." No problem!

"Roughly chop marinated sun-dried tomatoes..." Check! (and notice our newest purchase in the background - kid dishes!)

"Slice chicken in strips on the bias..." Apparently...it means diagonal.

To me it means "slanty."

"Deglaze the pan with white wine." Dewhat the who with what? Okay, our intrepation of it...pour a little water in it.

Ah yes...deglazing with clear water.

It actually looks like it might taste good!

Schlensker party of two your table (and meal) is ready!

I think it looks like a restaurant!

We got our greens(from our garden), bread(homemade by Lindsey), scallions (which come to find out is just green onions)...seriously, very restaurant-esque!

Why do we keep taking pictures and are not eating yet!?

Our candlelit dinner for two! =)

Okay, now, who's gonna clean it up?

Getting Closer To Due Day (D-Day)

After all vacations were over and done with, we looked at the calendar and said, "(Holy 75 more days!)" So, we decided to get down to business and start getting ready for having a kid. We received a very nice gift in the mail (we knew it was coming, but still...it was more than exciting!) - a crib and changing table from Grandma Weez. So, even though Lindsey didn't trust me putting it together stating she didn't want the baby to fall through the bottom, she finally gave in and let me do it. I know I'm not handy, but I can follow directions! Sheesh! -T

Love that before picture

The less parts the better

"Okay so this is the box spring right?" No, I really am not THAT clueless!

There's mama!

We're going to have to work well together to pull this thing off...and I ain't talkin' about this crib either.

Do you think one of Aunt Randy's blankets will suffice for a mattress? I mean it is REALLY soft.

At least someone looks happy when it comes to being around the changing table...

...some of us need a little practice...

...but really don't enjoy being around it that much
