Virginia Trip 2012 - Day 3: The Non-Fun With the Fun

The scriptures teach us about "Opposition in all things," and that we can't understand good unless we know bad.  That's why family picture day makes the rest of the trip seem so great. We suffer through a stress filled morning and then really enjoy the rest of the day. The highlight was when Mae got caught in the fly trap.  It was the sticky papered kind and well let's just say we had to pull Mae out of her sock to get her untrapped.  So if you're wondering, that's why she's pictured dancing in only one sock. -T

Look how excited Anna is for family pictures

Saving smiles for later?

Sisters

Love these moments

I think Anna might be mocking my 7th grade picture

Cousin Kylie and Anna

As evident in this picture...picture day is stress day

The Schlenskers 2012
Mom warmin' up the horse for Mae

She didn't want to go but we threw her on anyway

She warmed up to it

Uncle Scott even got her to pet the horse

But she liked his hat more

And she liked watching from a distance even better

A girl, a ball, and a dream

She might need better shoes for playing eventually

Daddy still has hops!

Family Dance Night?

Now THIS is more Mae's thing...even having to dance with only one sock

She just let her hair down and jumped right in to this activity

It was more than just the kids getting into it

The parents did as well

"Dude, can you believe our moms?  This dancing game used to be cool up until that last picture."

Virginia Trip 2012 - Day 2: Unadventurous Day for Mae

So what we already knew, was on full display on our first full day at the farm.  Mae is not very brave or adventurous.  Also, sorry Anna, but you'll have to wait until next year when you're walking and doing things before you get many pictures taken of you here.  As Grandma Weez always says, "Every dog has his day."  -T

"Car!"  She looked adventurous in the beginning.

She seemed to like the toy horses in the beginning

But that quickly changed

And she wanted off after about 30 seconds

She loves horses in pictures much more than in 3-D

Papa D provided the comfort

The chickens were at a perfect distance and caged in so they were okay with Mae

She liked the "cars" best not in motion

She always finds the dogs

And speaking of dogs, this looks like something you'd find on Scooby Doo

Pepe loves to take Mae on things

Virginia Trip 2012 - Day 1: Easier Travels

We always look forward to the "Schlensker Reunion" every year, but this year we were a little hesitant with a newborn less than a month old and traveling with Mae.  Papa D and Grandma Weez stepped up though and we rented a van and traveled together.  What an AWESOME blessing that was.  We made good time, Mae was happy, Anna was asleep most of the time, and it went as well as it possibly could have. -T

Excited and ready

Sleepy and ready

15 minutes later (she was asleep in 59)

Enjoying the rest stops

Finger puppets were a hit

A Very Pepe Birthday

So for reasons unknown, Mae calls Morgan Pepe (pronounced pep-Ay).  No clue.  Morgan takes it in stride though and we all enjoyed the festivities including some surprises. -T

Our daughters seem like they always just want to do their own thing

Why a picture of this little toy slide?

Because no slide is too small for Mae

Enjoying Morgan's presents

Funny part of the book

I'm sure a very proud moment for his dad...and no Beth, the hat doesn't make it any more manly, but Alleah LOVES it.

A Blessing Day

On Sunday, July 8th, we blessed Anna Lucia in church.  Members in the circle included Papa D, Grandpa, Uncle Brian, Brother Larson of the bishopric, and Dad did the blessing.  Uncle Pete was invited but unable to attend.  The dress, just like for Mae's, was designed and made by Grandma and it turned out really great...too bad she grew out of it within the next week+.  It was a good experience and outside of being fussy for less than 10 seconds and then kicking me in the gut, Anna was great.  I, of course, lion kinged her at the end.  I thought maybe I'd only Lion King my first born, but it was just so fun the first time that I got caught up in the moment and did it again.  Actually, I planned to do it all along.  It was good to have special guest Aunt Laurie and cousins Rylee, Alleah, and Siena also there (amongst Anna's Cincinnati Aunt, Uncle, and cousins and everyone else that lives here). -T
