Honoring the General

We had a really fun evening when Laurie organized a surprise retirement party for Papa D.  After 40 years of coaching, it was a nice tribute bringing back players from both Norwood and Madeira.  It was good to see some old faces, reconnect, and seeing what it meant to Dad.  Lots of lives touched and lots of memories.  It's hard to believe it's over. -T

"Coach" to many, "Dad" to a few, "PAPA D" to a growing group

Lots of memories

Lots of accomplishments

Lots of years
He was very much surprised
Mae was a little jealous with all the attention someone else was getting so she was determined to figure out a way to draw some attention to herself
Not even scary cousins could deter her

She's very smart - the best way to gain attention when it's on someone else...find that someone else
At least she's not running around everywhere

Old Norwood folk

Former players

The host

Mike Moyers was telling a very touching story...some people apparently thought it was funny

Grandma Weez was just as much a part of it all

If only we had 6'3 every year...400 wins could have been 500
Honoring the Coach

Even when Papa D spoke...someone yet again was jealous of not being the center of attention
He humored her
40 Great Years (So I hear...I was only around for 30 and those were great)
